Hardanger is the area that lies around the Hardanger fjord in Hordaland County in western Norway. Hardanger includes municipalities Kvam Jondal, Granvin, Ulvik, Eidfjord, Ullensvang, Odda and most of Kvinnherad. Fruitful Hardanger is considered one of the most beautiful areas in Norway, with fruit blossom, the fjord, and isbeen Folgefonna.

Traditionally, 'hardingane' (one who is from Hardanger, or as the English would say, shivering, "The hords") is engaged in fishing, agriculture, shipping and shipbuilding. In ancient times, the mountains
closed the land-based transport in Hardanger. The fjord was therefore an important way to transport goods that farmers would sell in Bergen. Sow was hardingane experts on sailing and shipbuilding. Far back as to the Viking Age we find a clear trace of hardingane. Hardangersjaktene (a type of ship) played a crucial role in transporting dried fish from northern Norway to Bergen for export. There are many a whole story with a Harding in the main role from this important period in our nation's history.

Fruit and berries from Hardanger is a concept in Norway. Fruit and berry cultivation was introduced by English monks around 1665. Fruit was soon known as a particularly juicy and velsmakane fruit. The climate is mild and good in Hardanger, and there is unlimited supply of fresh mountain water, so that the environment for the cultivation of fruits and berries are perfect. Production of fruits and berries are living today, and vast in the spring is a wonderful beautiful sight.
